Fishing St. Augustine
Inshore Creeks, Coastal Waters & Big North Florida Redfish
St. Augustine has a lot more going for it than beaches and old buildings.
For anglers, the real attraction is the water.
Protected creeks, flats and shorelines create miles of inshore habitat, while the inlet opens the door to beaches and coastal waters just outside.
That gives Capt. Mike options.
Depending on the tide, weather and time of year, you could spend the day working protected inshore water or head toward the coast looking for a completely different bite.
And then there are the redfish.
From inshore fish to the big bull reds that show up throughout Island Fishing Charters’ catches, these hard-pulling fish are one of the experiences that make fishing this part of North Florida worth the trip.
The water changes every day. That’s part of fishing here.
Knowing how to fish it is where Capt. Mike comes in.

Our Boat
The Pathfinder 2500 Hybrid
The Pathfinder 2500 Hybrid gives Capt. Mike the versatility to fish both sides of St. Augustine.
Its shallow draft and large casting decks are right at home working inshore water, while the hull is built to handle the bigger water we encounter on nearshore trips.
There’s an open cockpit with plenty of room to move when you’re hooked up, plus a T-top for shade.
The boat is equipped with dual Power-Pole shallow-water anchors, full Simrad electronics and a Minn Kota trolling motor with Spot-Lock.
Shallow enough to get where we need to go inshore. Capable enough to head toward the coast when conditions are right.
